Monroe SF is a pretty upscale bar and club known for its plush round sofas around the venue and artwork on its walls. Every Friday, they host $1 drinks at their Battle of the Decades happy hour.
From 6pm to 10pm, they play a different time era of music each hour:
6pm - 7pm: 70’s music w/ $1 beer & cocktail
7pm - 8pm: 80’s music w/ $2 beer & cocktail
8pm - 9pm: 90’s music w/ $3 beer & cocktail
… and so on
Monroe fun fact
In the late 50’s and early 60’s Monroe used to be The Jazz Workshop with legends like Miles Davis and Charles Mingus. It was also known for the 1961 Lenny Bruce arrest and subsequent artistic freedom supreme court decision.
Vibes
Place is a bit upscale, so dress decent. They have a pretty lenient dress code as long as you’re not wearing shorts, sweats, or anything too casual
Unlike other popular SF nightclubs like Temple and Audio, Monroe doesn’t play a lot of EDM. It’s mostly sing along pop and throwbacks, college frat party vibes. You will find lots of college summer interns there during the summer. Great place to meet new people and sing to your favorite hits!
