Quick San Francisco Life Update
Life's fast, gotta slow it down sometimes. I'm back on Substack (5 min read)
Life in a big city right out of college moves FAST. I grew up in Chandler, a suburb in Arizona, and spent the last four years of college in Durham, North Carolina, a small tobacco town where things felt slow to moderate pace. None of my past living experiences could have prepared me for the fast paced lifestyle of San Francisco in my early 20’s. The last time I wrote a Scoop was August 15th, but the past 3 months went by so quickly and it felt like less than a month went by.
Some of the major personal things that have happened past 3 months:
I got a new car (EV with rebates). I may consider writing an article about my car purchase experience, but the rebates are no longer valid
Went to Yosemite with friends
Met new people through organizing photography groups. We’ve been to a bunch of different places around the bay. Will definitely write an article on this.
Work’s been ramping up and I led a project on my team. Will also write an article about working in tech in SF… (original.. I know 🥱)
A BUNCH of new restaurants and activities in the city
I’ve been occupied by with meeting new people, adjusting to my new job, and trying to settle down into a routine. Every week and weekend is packed with events. For the past couple months, I’ve lived life always looking ahead, not slowing down to reflect on how I can improve myself and what all these major life changes mean. This speed has started to burn me out and I need time to slow down and reflect.
When I first started SF Scoop, I wanted it to be a place where I can journal my experiences and reflect. While I was away, I noticed that SF Scoop would organically gain new subscribers and my articles / reviews were providing value to people. Seeing this organic growth, albeit small, has motivated me to continue writing. I hope to push myself to continue writing SF Scoop articles, to use it as a means of journal and reflection and provide value to its readers.
I’ve done so much in San Francisco these past weeks and I can’t wait to write about them.
