SF's Adults Only Science Museum? ⚗️
I feel like a kid again at the Exploratorium After Dark (2 minute read)
Last summer, my manager recommended I check out the Exploratorium After Dark, an event for adults only at the interactive science exhibit Exploratorium. I brought together a couple of intern friends and we went to check it out. Most of the pieces in the exhibit were interactive, and it felt great to be a kid again.
Exploratorium After Dark happens at the Exploratorium on Pier 15 every Thursday from 6pm - 10pm.
Adults only?
No, it’s not because they have explicit content.
They serve drinks and I think they just want this event to not have kids so it doesn’t feel like a carnival.
No kids means its a great place to take someone out on a date!
What they have
All of the pieces are interactive and they do cool things with ~science~!
My favorite pieces are the huge pendulum to show momentum transfer, wind vortex (indoor tornado), and the outdoor echo communication chairs.
This was a year ago, they probably have new stuff.
My thoughts on vibes
Bring a group of friends, which was I did. Bring a date. It’s a great place to goof around and play like a kid. There’s no dress code, you can wear whatever.
I love how they served drinks and the no kids policy makes the event feel more ~proper~, if that’s the right word haha.
Weren’t that many people there, which I felt like was a downside. Some areas were awfully quiet. It’s probably gotten better since I when COVID was still a thing.
See my trip at the Exploratorium
My friend Edrea made a video briefly documenting our Exploratorium trip. You should go check it out and support her channel! She makes content on things tech, school, and SF!
