If youโre into thick, umami-rich ramen broth, youโll certainly love Mensho Tokyo SF. Mensho is a Michelin recommended restaurant located in the Tenderloin neighborhood. Itโs my personal favorite ramen shop, and the long lines are worth the wait.
Mensho has creative takes on ramen not found elsewhere such as Duck Chashu, Spicy Lamb Miso, Green Matcha Soup, and the GKO (Garlic Knock Out). The restaurant chain is created by ramen master Shono, and they are opening a new location in Oakland!
My menu recs
GKO (Garlic Knock Out): uses black garlic oil to make the creamiest chicken broth
Blaze: the spiciest of them all. Uses Szechuan chili pepper.
Matcha: the broth is green. Makes for pretty cool photos
Vibes
The restaurant has a small, intimate space. Bar and shared tables with dividers
Line is long and stretches down the sidewalk outside. During busiest times, you can expect an hour wait.
Located in the Tenderloin, not the safest neighborhood, but food is bussin๐
